A Los Fresnos man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly went hunting on private land without the owner's permission.

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department game wardens booked Brian Edward Putegnant into the Cameron County Jail on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old man is accused of hunting without landowner consent.

Court records show that the incident happened off of Buena Vista Boulevard near Bayview back on January 16th.

A game warden allegedly saw Putegnat dressed in camouflage on private property known not to allow hunting.

The game warden reported that Putegnat had a compound bow, arrows and other hunting gear in his truck.

Putegnat, who lives six miles away in Los Fresnos, allegedly admitted that he did not have permission to be on the property or hunt there.

When asked if he was hunting, Putegnat allegedly told the game warden that he was "just enjoying the day taking pictures" but if a rabbit came out, he would have shot it.

Under Texas state law, hunting without landowner consent is a Class A misdemeanor punishable up to one year in jail and/or a $4,000 dollar in addition losing his hunting and fishing license.

Putegnat was released from custody after posting a $3,000 dollar bond.

Court records show that he has previous arrests for marijuana, DWI, public intoxication and unlawfully carrying a weapon going back to February 1995.
