On Tuesday, San Benito Police was called in to assist and launched a 'child death investigation'.

At least two investigators assigned to the case Tuesday, returned to the school to question administrators and teachers.

An autopsy has been ordered to shed more light as to why the child collapsed, and if negligence was involved.

The student's death, whose name has not been released, came has a shock to friends, family and the San Benito School District.

"Counselors at Sullivan Elementary are assisting students, teachers and staff that are having a difficult time coping with the loss of this young life"  said San Benito CISD Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón.

"We extend our most sincere and deepest condolences to the child's family and ask that you keep them in your prayers" he added.
