A man, with several warrants out for his arrest, slapped a police officer while being arrested at a San Benito Bar.
Police were called out to the Gas Station Bar on North Travis Street in reference to a fight between two men.
When officers arrived, one of the men already left the bar and everything had calmed down.
The other man was still at the bar and attempting to exit through the side.
Officers approached the man and recognized that he was someone wanted for other criminal activity.
The suspect tried to run but officers were able to grab the man and attempt to arrest him.
While being arrested, the suspect slapped an officer on the left side of his face.
Officers were able to handcuff the man, identified as Jacob Barrientos.
Barrientos had several warrants out for his arrest for evading arrest and criminal trespass.
He was taken into custody and charged with assault on a public servant, resisting arrest and evading arrest.
He was arraigned before Judge Benjamin Yudesis. Barrientos bond’s total $62,000.
