An elderly man is safe and back on dry land after reportedly suffering a heart attack while fishing in the Laguna Madre near Arroyo City.

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) game wardens rescued the man shortly before 1 p.m. Friday.

Rescuers told Action 4 News that they believe the man suffered a heart attack while boating in the area.

Game wardens brought the man to Adolph Thomae County Park where paramedics were waiting.

The man was taken to local hospital where he's expected to recover.
