RGV -- High pressure is in control of our region and that means not a lot of rain is expected through the end of the week or much of the weekend for that matter. High pressure acts like a dome of protection with sinking air crushing clouds and strangling showers.
This benign weather pattern will last into Sunday as daytime highs shoot up well past normal levels and might even reach or pass by a few record levels.
Good news comes with a cold front sliding south to the valley late, late Sunday and early Monday. There should be enough moisture in the air at the right levels to feed a few showers over the valley Sunday night and Monday morning otherwise we can expect temperatures to drop 8 to 10 degrees for the start of next week.
