A Setup for a White Christmas up North
RGV -- A real whopper of a snow storm is sliding east across the U.S. promising to blast the Plains and the Midwest with a foot and a half of snow or better. The same storm cranking out a White Christmas up north will influence our weather as the southern tail of the storm will slide through the RGV Thursday morning. Instead of ice, sleet and snow we will get a dramatic wind shift with gusts near 40mph plus a slight chance for a shower.
Behind the front we will have clearing skies and brisk north winds throughout the day. Daytime highs will be determined by a contest between sunshine and the north wind; if the north wind can fetch enough cool air we will be hard pressed to hit 70 but if the sun can outshine the wind we might see 75 degrees.
Christmas is on target to be perfect with a wake-up temperature in the mid to upper 40's and an afternoon temperature near the mid 60's.
With cool air still in place we will watch energy and moisture roll in over that cool air creating lots of clouds and scattered showers through the weekend.
