Tuesday, December 04, 2012  Center Mario Benavides of the Lousiville Cardinals, a former standout at Los Fresnos, has been named a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, presented to the most outstanding center in college football.

Friday, November 09, 2012  When former Texas Longhorns coach Darrell Royal passed away at the age of 88 from complications from Alzheimer's Disease, many college football fans remembered him  as the innovator of the wishbone offense and a winner of multiple national titles. Rio Grande Valley fans also recall that Royal coached many of the best football players to ever come from this area.

Wednesday, September 26, 2012  The 12th-ranked Texas Longhorns face their toughest test of the year Saturday night when they play at Oklahoma State. The Cowboys have beaten UT two straight years, and there is some question as to which OSU QB the Horns will face.

Friday, September 14, 2012  Texas A&M-Kingsville punt returner/wide receiver Joseph Vela will take the field Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington as the Javelinas face West Texas A&M in the final game of the Lone Star Conference football festival. It will mark the second time the Rio Hondo graduate has played at "JerryWorld".

Monday, April 30, 2012  McAllen alum Nick Garza signed to play football at UTSA 2 years ago, but an arm injury kept him off the field. Now Garza is switching sports and schools, transferring to Hibbing College in Minnesota and playing basketball for the Cardinals.
