HIDALGO -- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees season came to an with a 3-1 loss to the Texas Brahmas Friday night .
Texas swept the Best-of-Seven second playoff series four games to one and moves on to play the winner of the Odessa/Laredo series in the Souhern Conference Finals.
Tyler Skworchinski led Texas with a three-point effort (2-1-3), scoring the game-winner in the second period and adding an empty-netter to seal the win late in the third.
Brent Gauvreau had the lone goal for the Bees while Wylie Rogers made 20 stops in the loss.
Pete Rouleau put the Brahmas up 1-0 on the power play, redirecting Kevin McLeod shot at 4:08 in the first for his second post season goal.
RGV knotted the game at 1 on Gauvreau's first goal of the playoffs with a power play tally at 5:55, but Skworchinski put Texas back up 2-1 just 15 seconds later.
Gauvreau beat goalie Brett Jaeger from the right circle off an Evan Rankin feed, finishing off a 2-on-for his first playoff goal. Skworchinski's tally game off a loose puck o Rogers' left. The Brahmas forward, who scored in all four games vs. RGV, lifted a backhander over the fallen goalie's left pad.
Jaeger made 31 saves for his fourth win in as many games while Rogers suffered the loss with 20 saves.
