Four people are behind bars after McAllen police discovered an Internet-based escort and robbery scheme.
McAllen police told Action 4 News that investigators learned about the scheme on Saturday.
Investigators said 26-year-old Charles Frederick Bell II answered an on-line escort service ad and met with a woman at a local hotel.
The McAllen man was robbed at the hotel but reported it to police.
Officers arrested three people on robbery charges:
• Avonnye Catrece Girley, 26
• Juan Martin Ramon, Jr., 30
• Daniel Ray Settle, 26
Police reported finding a small amount of marijuana on Settle prompting an additional charge.
Investigators said Girley is from Memphis, Tenneessee while Ramon is from Harlingen. No address was available for Settle.
Girley and Ramon were issued $10,000 dollar bonds while Settle got a $55,000 dollars in bonds.
Court records show that Bell was on probation for an aggravated assault charge from Edinburg when he reported the robbery.
