Beloved "Dallas" actor Larry Hagman lost his battle with cancer on Friday.

The Dallas Morning News reported on its website that the TV actor passed away at a hospital in Dallas.

Family member issued a written statment to the Dallas Morning News:

“Larry was back in his beloved Dallas re-enacting the iconic role he loved most. Larry’s family and close friends had joined him in Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday. When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones. It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for. The family requests privacy at this time.”

Hagman starred in the hit 1970s TV show "I Dream of Jeannie" but is best known for his portrayal of Texas oilman JR Ewing on the epic 1980s TV series "Dallas."

The second season of the TNT revival of "Dallas" is expected air in January.
