Benavides One Of Six Up For Rimington Trophy

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Center Mario Benavides of the Lousiville Cardinals, a former standout at Los Fresnos, has been named a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, presented to the most outstanding center in college football.

Benavides, a four-year starter at center for the Cardinals, has started 46 of the last 50 games in his collegiate career, and every single game as a senior to help Louisville to a 10-2 record, their second-straight Big East title, and a trip to the 2013 Sugar Bowl.

The winner of the Rimington Trophy is selected by determining the consensus All-American center pick from four existing All-America teams:

*American Football Coaches Association (AFCA)
*Walter Camp Foundation (WCF)
*Sporting News (SN)
*Football Writers Association of America (FWAA)

The winner will be recognized during pre-game festivities prior to the BCS National Championship Game at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida on January 7, 2013, and then again at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday, January 12, 2013.
