Wet weather didn’t stop hundreds of people from participating in the New Year’s Day “Polar Bear Dip” on South Padre Island.

Now in its 15th year, the event was held at its new home at Clayton’s Beach Bar on the northern end of the Island.

The annual tradition is known for its unpredictable weather.

This year, the weather on South Padre Island was in the low 70s, overcast and wet.

That didn’t stop hundreds of people from welcoming 2013 by taking a quick dip in the Gulf of Mexico.
