EDINBURG, TX -- Friday night marks the first meeting between the Edinburg and Edinburg Vela football teams, and the budding rivalry would appear to have ratcheted up a level. Early this morning, Edinburg HS students discovered a large mark had been burned into the center of the on-campus stadium, a mark that looks remarkably like a 'V'. 'V' for Vela? ECISD Superintendent Dr. Rene Gutierrez says security cameras spotted movement in the stadium around 2:30 in the morning, but they could not identify the suspects. School officials are handling this not as a prank, but as a crime.
