Non-District Matchup Not Expected To Be Rescheduled

LYFORD, TX -- After Monday's tragic death of a Lyford high school student in an ATV accident, Lyford ISD has made the decision to cancel all of this week's scheduled homecoming activities, including Friday's home game against Progreso.

While the deceased student was not a Bulldogs football player, the school believes that honoring her memory and beginning the grieving and mourning processes takes precedence over the non-district matchup with the Red Ants.

Progreso has already filled the hole in their schedule, tentatively scheduling a game at Pharr Oratory for Friday night.

While Lyford's next open week is week 6, Bulldogs coach Jaime Infante tells Action 4 Sports there are no plans curently to fill that date. If that does not change, Lyford will play nine games in the 2012 season rather than ten.
