Guzman Returns To Job After 3 Months Away
RIO HONDO, TX -- Rio Hondo boys basketball coach Joe Guzman is back at his job. The Bobcats coach had been reassigned for the past three months after being reassigned on the final day of school in June, but returned to his position yesterday.
Head football coach and athletic director Rocky James informed Guzman that he wanted the basketball program "to go in a different direction". Guzman filed a grievance and had his first hearing with James on Tuesday July 17th, but his grievance was denied, according to Guzman's lawyer Tony Conners.
Guzman then had a grievance hearing with RHISD Sueprintendent Anneliese McMinnon Wednesday August 29th, and according to Conners, Guzman was reinstated the next day.
Guzman has led Rio Hondo to 11 straight playoff appearances and 3 straight district titles, 7 in all over the 13 seasons with the Bobcats
