Throws 18.65m For Mexico

LONDON, UK -- Friday afternoon in London, Rio Grande City's Stephen Saenz represented Mexico in the 2012 Summer Olympic Men's Shot Put competition. Saenz scratched on his first and second throws, but marked an 18.65 meter throw on his second. Unfortunately, that was not enough to make the top 12 and qualify for the final.

Saenz, a two-time state champion with the Rattlers, and currently a junior at Auburn was among the youngest competitors in the shot put at these games.

He is believed to be the first thrower representing Mexico to ever mark at an Olympic shot put competition.

Welcome Home Celebration for Valley Olympian Stephen Saenz- 7pm Thursday August 9th at Joe R. Sanchez Stadium in Rio Grande City.

Open to the public, free admission.
