HIDALGO, TX -- Tyler Lehrke scored the first two goals of his professional career as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (7-5-2) defeated the Texas Brahmas (6-4-2) by a score of 4-1 Saturday night. The Killer Bees found the back of the net first as Tyler Lehrke scored his first of two goals. Matt Smyth took a shot from the circles on an end-to-end rush which was deflected by Brahmas defensemen Sean Hurley right to the stick of Lehrke who put it past the fooled Wayne Savage. Brett Wilson also collected an assist on the goal scored at 10:08.

The Killer Bees power-play struck pay dirt at the 15:02 mark of the second period as Darcy Campbell scored his third goal in his last two games with a rip from the top of the circles. The Bees were on a two-man advantage and Zak McClellan and Dan Gendur combined to feed the puck to Campbell.

Just over a minute later the Killer Bees increased their lead to three goals with a great personal effort goal by Tyler Lehrke. Lehrke picked up a loss puck in front of the net after a faceoff and after his first shot was turned away picked up his own rebound and skated around the netminder Savage to find the back of the with a shot.

The Killer Bees increased their lead to four when Aaron Lewicki scored his first of the night. Lewicki and Tomas Klempa came in on a two-on-one. After the Klempa shot was turned away Lewicki picked up the rebound and it found the back of the net at the 2:24 mark of the third.

The Brahmas would score their lone goal of the game in the third with two Killer Bees in the box. On the five-on-three Jason Krischuk would rip a shot from the faceoff circle down low that would beat Pagliero high glove side.

The Killer Bees are set to play a home-and-home with the Laredo Bucks this week. The Bees travel to Laredo on Monday and will host the Bucks on Wednesday night.
