LAREDO, TX -- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees needed only 22 seconds of overtime to claim their second victory of the season over the Laredo Bucks. Sean Muncy scored the game winning goal for the Bees, his second point of the game, off a rebound from a Tomas Klempa shot. The Bees rallied from an early deficit after the Bucks rattled off three straight goals to end the first period.

BOX SCORE

The Killer Bees scored the first goal of the game for the fourth straight game after Dan Gendur’s wrist shot from the point beat Pier Pelletier. Tyler Lehrke and Brett Wilson added assists for the goal at the 6:21 mark.

The Bees lead would last less than ten minutes as then Daniel Koger and the Bucks rallied for three straight goals in less than five minutes. Koger has been a Bees killer this season amounting for seven of the Bucks nine goals against the Bees.

Tomas Klempa would make it a one goal game at the 5:56 mark of the second period as he deflected a Jake Obermeyer bomb from the point past Pelletier.  Klempa remains the points-leader for the Killer Bees and now has six points on the season, two goals and four assists. Sean Muncy picked up the second assist.

The Bees would trail by a goal through most of the third period until Kyle Radke ripped a shot from the top of the circles that beat a screened Pelletier on the blocker-side. The tying goal was only the defensemen’s second career professional goal in nearly 90 games played.

As the rest of regulation came and went the teams prepared for a five-minute overtime session. The Bees would need only 22 seconds to get the win as Tomas Klempa came in with Sean Muncy on a two-on-one. Klempa ripped a shot that was saved but Muncy was able to collect the rebound and find twine to give the Bees the overtime victory.

The Bees return to action next Thursday on the road as they face a trio of opponents, starting with Bossier-Shreveport, followed by Wichita and Mississippi.
