HIDALGO, TX -- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the team’s schedule for the 2010-11 regular season. The Killer Bees will play 66 games with 33 of those taking place in Hidalgo.
RGV opens the 2010-11 season at home with games vs. Laredo on Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct., 16. The Killer Bees will play a total of 23 weekend dates at home with 11 Friday games and 12 Saturday contests. The team will also host six Tuesday night games along with three Wednesday matchups and one Thursday tilt.
Friday and Saturday games will begin at 7:30 p.m. while Tuesday-Thursday games start at 7:00 p.m. “We decided to move our weeknight games to a 7 p.m. start time based directly on feedback from our season ticket holders,” Killer Bees General Manager Grant W. Buckborough said. “We think starting a bit earlier will give people the chance to come out during the week, have fun and still get home at a decent hour afterwards.”
RGV will play 14 of 18 CHL teams this season. Highlights of the home schedule include the annual Thanksgiving Eve game on Wednesday, November 24, vs. Laredo at 7:00 p.m. The defending President’s Cup Champion Rapid City Rush make their way to Hidalgo on Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5. The annual Kid’s Day Game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, vs. Arizona.
2010-11 Schedule Highlights

ANNUAL SCHOOL KID’S ONLY DAY – Wednesday, March 9 vs. Arizona (10:30 a.m.).
DEFENDING PRESIDENT’S CUP CHAMPION – The Rapid City Rush visit Hidalgo on Feb. 4 and 5.
NEW YEAR’S ON THE ROAD, AGAIN – The Killer Bees will celebrate New Year’s Eve on the road for the fifth straight year. This season, the Bees will be in Odessa. Last year the team was in Arizona. The three previous seasons RGV was at Laredo.
