HIDALGO, TX -- Dorados quarterback Josh Kellett says he was surprised to get the call to go into the game last Saturday in Tulsa against the Talons, but there will be no surprise this week.
Action 4 Sports has learned via a team source that Kellett has already been named the starter for this Saturday's game against Tri-Cities in Hidalgo. While Kellett started almost every game during his 1st stint with the Dorados from 2005-2007, Saturday will be his 1st start of the year. Regular starter Nick Hill had started the 14 games before this, but a pair of interceptions late in the Tulsa game prompted his benching in favor of Kellett, a benching that continues into this week.
Hill is in the top two of af2 statistics for total yardage, yards per game, & touchdowns, but also in interceptions, and it's obvious that with the playoffs coming up soon, Coach Marty Hammond values Kellett's experience over Hill's gaudy stats.
