ALL DRESSED UP AND NOBODY TO PLAY
HIDALGO -- Despite the postponement of the inaugural home match, RGV Bravos FC took the official team photo Friday evening at Valley View Stadium along with the team’s mascot “Piquín”.
Bravos FC players were given the home uniform for the official team photo. The club will use the white jersey, blue shorts and white socks for home games, while the blue jersey, white shorts and blue socks will be used for away matches.
Team mascot “Piquín” arrived Friday evening at Valley View Stadium and was reunited with his creator, Arturo Vázquez, who flew in a day before from Mexico City for the Bravos FC inaugural match.
Earlier in the day, during the Bravos FC Media Day held at Buck’s Pizza, the United Soccer Leagues approved the rescheduling of the Bravos FC-Laredo Heat match to May 25 at Valley View Stadium, at 7:30 p.m.
The first four matches of the USL Premier Development League season double as Lamar Hunt US Open Cup qualifiers.
The US Open Cup, founded in 1914, is the oldest and most prestigious club tournament in the nation. All US-based PDL teams participate in the qualifiers. The teams with the most points in each of the eight PDL divisions after the first four games of the season advance to the US Open Cup.
The Bravos FC inaugural home match against Laredo was originally scheduled for May 2, however due to health concerns regarding the outbreak of Swine Flu, the USL postponed the game.
Tickets for the May 2 match will be honored for the May 25 makeup date against Laredo. May 2 tickets can also be refunded or exchanged for tickets to the new home opener on May 23 against the Houston Leones at 7:30 p.m.
No refunds or exchanges will be made after May 22.
