Rio Grande Valley 104, Reno 96

HIDALGO, TX -- Chris Johnson’s 28 points led the Rio Grande Valley Vipers past the Reno Bighorns 104-96 in a Kids Day matchup at State Farm Arena. Over 5,800 students from 25 school districts across the RGV attended today’s Kids Day game.

 

The Vipers were led by Johnson with 28 points. Tim Ohlbrecht contributed 19 points, followed by Mike Singletary and Scott Machado with 13 points each. Kyle Fogg tallied 11 points.

 

Reno was led by Darnell Jackson with 25 points and Josh Selby with 21 points. Marcus Landy added 17 points. Garrett Temple posted 12 points, followed by Kevin Murphy with 10 points.

 

The Bighorns took an early 11-6 lead in the first quarter. RGV quickly fought back, and three consecutive three-point shots from Johnson put the Vipers up 21-14 with 4:44 on the clock. By the end of the quarter, the Vipers held a 36-22 advantage. The Bighorns fought back throughout the game, but were not able to steal the lead.
