Authorities are investigating an auto accident where an elderly man's car ended up crushed underneath an 18-wheeler.

It all happened on FM 509 and Haas Road early Monday afternoon.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the accident.

State troopers reported that an elderly man’s Honda was headed north and the 18-wheeler was headed south.

Investigators said the elderly man’s Honda veered into the 18-wheeler’s path.

The 68-year-old man’s car ended up crushed under the rear of axle of the 18-wheeler.

Paramedics rushed the elderly man to the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen for treatment of minor injuries.

State troopers reported that the elderly man is listed in stable condition.

It’s not clear why the elderly man veered into oncoming traffic but the accident remains under investigation.
