Mission police officer Jonathan Treviño has been under home confinement under very strict conditions since posting bond back in December.

FBI agents arrested Treviño and three other members of the “Panama Unit” anti-drug task force officer in a sting operation.

Treviño is facing federal charges where he’s accused of taking bribes to escort drug loads across the Rio Grande Valley.

In a motion filed just days ahead of New Year's Eve, Treviño asked for a federal judge’s permission to drink alcohol.

Treviño, the son of Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño, is out on a $100,000 dollars bond.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos placed several restrictions on his release:

• Home Confinement except for work and other exceptions
• Wearing a GPS device
• No traveling outside of South Texas without permission
• No travel to Mexico
• No contact with co-defendants or witnesses
• Medical and psychiatric treatment as directed by officials
• No firearms
• Random drug tests
• No alcohol

Treviño filed a motion asking Judge Ramos to change that condition to no excessive use of alcohol.

The Mission police officer claimed he “has not exhibited an alcohol abuse problem.”

Action 4 News obtained copies of urine analysis results from the Mission Police Department.

The results, dated January 2011, showed negative results for any signs of substance abuse.

Judge Ramos sat on the motion a couple days past New Year’s Eve and issued an order denying his request.

Treviño's defense attorney Roberto Yzaguirre did not return calls for comment.
