A police officer is now behind bars after being accused in a sexual abuse investigation.

“You have to value yourself and give yourself dignity, that you are a person and not to be treated like a piece of meat," said Vanessa.

Vanessa said she's glad the victim of an aggravated sexual assault finally decided to speak out.

According to Pharr police, the victim claims she was sexually abused from the time she was 11 until she was 16-years-old.  The woman made an outcry to Pharr police back in October.

She claims the man that took away her innocence is 33-year-old Jaime Ivan Ocanas.

“How could he do this to an 11-year-old,” said the woman.

The woman claims the abuse went on for about 5 years.  According to a police report,  Ocanas would take her to a house in Pharr, and forced her to have sex with him.

“He was in and out of my home like the rest of my relatives had I never even thought he would be able to do this I trusted my family,” said the woman.

She said she was always worried about strangers taking advantage of any family member and was in shock to find out it was someone she trusted.

Ocanas, a family member that was very charismatic and would joke around with everyone. Vanessa said it’s an eye opener for the entire family.

She said they found out Ocanas was working as a police officer for McAllen Independent School District and that's something that scares them.  That is one of the reasons they made an outcry to authorities.

According to McAllen ISD, Ocanas was employed as a McAllen ISD Police officer and was terminated on December 17th.

We asked if there was a background check and they said that at the time they checked, and it came back clean.

Ocanas is now in jail and facing a 100,000 dollar bond.
