I’m back in Edinburg tonight for another game at Cats Stadium and for a second week in a row I will be calling a game featuring the Edinburg North Cougars.
Last week they held on for a 21-20 win over Economedes and this week they take on the La Joya Juarez-Lincoln Huskies in a battle of a pair of 30-5A teams.
Action 4 Sports will feature LIVE VIDEO of the game starting at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The running attack of the Huskies has been what has carried them to a 2-1 start on the year.
This matches the best start the program has ever had as best I can tell and a win here could start to open up serious talk that they could make it into the play-offs.
As for the Cougars, they were getting used to being in post-season play until they hit the wall last season. Therefore their 3-0 start is more like “business as usual” for a program used to playing beyond the regular season games.
On paper the Cougars seem to have a bit of an edge.
Yet when looking into the stats of the game, it is hard to get a true picture of these teams because the teams that each of them have played have not exactly posted a great resume.
Rest assured this one will be viewed by many in the district as a game that will make a difference in someone getting in the play-offs or not, despite the fact that we are only looking at a fourth game of the year.

*** Last year Did not play each other. JL went 2-8 ED N went 3-7
*** Have not played each other as far back as I could research (04-05)
*** Last time that ED N started 3-0 was the 07-08 season. That year they won seven games.
*** 07-08 EN lost to Weslaco in the 1st round 62-49.
*** 08-09 EN also won seven games. Lost to Los Fresnos in round 1 70-21.
