Authorities are investigating a weekend motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a Harlingen teenager.

It all happened off West Barcelona Avenue and Granada Street on the city’s northside around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Harlingen police told Action 4 News that 18-year-old Christopher Lee Garcia was killed in the accident.

Investigators said Garcia was riding a 1996 Honda motorcycle but ran a stop sign.

The motorcycle collided with a 2002 Ford Expedition.

Paramedics took Garcia to the Valley Baptist Medical Center where he later died.

Police said no charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV.

Investigators said Garcia was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
