It will be a windy start to the work week as wind gusts reach 45 mph Monday afternoon.

As high pressure moves eastward; strong, southerly winds will blow through much of the Rio Grande Valley on Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service Brownsville has issued a Red flag warning for much of the south Texas region for Monday and Tuesday from 11am to 8pm.

A wind advisory has also been issued for Monday from 9am to 5pm.

With little humidity and strong winds any type of burning is strongly discouraged.

A dry cold front will sweep through the RGV Tuesday afternoon bringing winds out of the northwest.

The strong winds are expected to calm Wednesday.
