Attorney Marc Rosenthal is fighting racketeering and corruption allegations.
But his trial isn't taking place in the Rio Grande Valley. It’ll be heard in Corpus Christi.
The Austin-based attorney first made a name for himself in the Valley with a wrongful death lawsuit involving a Valley Air Care helicopter.
But that same case now has him facing corruption charges.
Federal prosecutors allege that Rosenthal and local attorney Jim Solis bribed former 404th State District Judge Abel Limas to get favorable rulings in the case.
Both Limas and Solis, who is a former state representative, both plead guilty to their roles in the crime.
But Rosenthal maintains his innocence.
The Austin-based attorney has put together a defense team to fight the charges.
Rosenthal requested a change of venue due to wide publicity from Valley media outlets surrounding the case.
U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen granted the request.
The Brownsville federal judge is now presiding over the trial in Corpus Christi.
A jury has been selected in the case.
Opening arguments are expected to take place first thing on Monday morning.
