A McAllen man is behind bars after being accused of sexually abusing a girl over a five-year period of time.

Pharr police arrested 33-year-old Jaime Ivan Ocanas on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge on Thursday.

Investigators said a 26-year-old woman came forward with the allegations back in October.

The woman told police that Ocanas sexually started sexually abusing her when she was 11 years old in Pharr.

According to the woman, the alleged sexual abuse continued for five years.

The woman told police that she kept the secret for years but decided to come forward.

Ocanas appeared before a Pharr municipal court judge on Thursday where he was issued a $100,000 dollar bond.
