Tony Romo was back at practice with the Dallas Cowboys, his first since suffering a cracked rib and torn lung during Sunday's win at San Francisco.

DALLAS (AP) -- Romo was on the field Thursday during the first 20 minutes of practice open to the media. He did not throw any passes and gingerly went through some stretches. He was not wearing a helmet.

Being on the field was an indication Romo could start Monday night against the Redskins.

Owner Jerry Jones watched briefly from a far sideline, then left without stopping to comment.

It was Dallas' first practice since Romo overcame the broken rib and a tear in his lung to pull out a comeback victory in overtime against San Francisco. He has been praised for his toughness and leadership just a week after being scorned for bad plays and poor decisions that led to a loss in the opener, and he also earned the NFC offensive player of the week award.
