After four decades of organized soccer, the Rio Grande Valley was awarded a professional soccer franchise by the United Soccer Leagues (USL).
The historic RGV franchise will participate in the Premier Development League (PDL) of the USL in the 2009 season.
The USL is the largest organization of elite soccer leagues in North America, and includes clubs in Canada and the Caribbean.
The USL consists of the First Division, Second Division, PDL, W-League (Women’s), Super-20 League, and the Super Y-League.
