Pace Safety Carter Makes 2nd Team

When the 5A All-State football teams were released on Thursday, defense was the name of the game, as the Valley put two defenders, Edinburg's Sal Martinez and Weslaco's Jose Montiel on the first team, while Pace safety Kyle Carter made second team. Of the 12 local players who made honorable mention, 6 were on offense, 6 on defense. 13-1 Harlingen placed five players on the all-state teams, the most of any Valley team, followed by  McAllen Memorial & Weslaco who tied with three players apiece.
