McAllen ISD hired Rowlett co-offensive coordinator Kevin Brewer to be head football coach and athletic coordinator for the McHi Bulldogs Tuesday night. Brewer replaces Tony Harris, was fired from that position after 17 seasons. An assistant with the Eagles the past ten seasons, Brewer played college football at TCU in the 1990's and will be making his debut as a head coach.

It wasn't just former players, current players, friends and family that rallied around recently fired McAllen head football coach and athletic director Tony Harris, it was also current head coaches at McHi, voicing their opinion that McAllen ISD not only made a politcal decision, but a big mistake in unceremoniously letting Harris go after 17 succesful years for the Bulldogs sports programs.

McAllen ISD AD Paula Gonzalez confirmed Thursday the reassigning of McAllen head football coach Tony Harris after 17 seasons with the Bulldogs. Harris had a record of 110-80 in his 17 seasons at McHi. McAllen baseball coach Eliseo Pompa has been named interim football coach/athletic coordinator until a replacement hired by what McAllen ISD hopes is early spring.
