Friday, April 19, 2013  The Golden Eagles of Hanna scored in the opening minutes of their state semifinal game with Alief Elsik, and that lone goal was all they needed for the win and a chance to play in the 5A championship game Saturday in Georgetown.

Thursday, April 18, 2013  For 70 minutes, the Pharr Valley View Tigers looked like the best team in their 4A state semifinal matchup with El Paso Del Valle. But the last ten minutes belonged to the Conquistadores, who made their lone goal stand up for a win that eliminated the Tigers one game short of the finals.

Tuesday, April 16, 2013  While many local golf fans might have expected Jose Pena of Sharyland to return to the state golf tournament for a second straight year, not many predicted Jacob rodriguez of tiny 1-A Lasara high school would be heading to Austin as well.

Saturday, April 13, 2013  After a scoreless 1st half against San Antonio Jay, the Hanna Eagles found their scoring touch just in time for a shutout victory, giving them not only the5A Region IV championship, but a ticket to the school's first Final Four appearance in 23 years.

Friday, April 12, 2013  It was Brownsville versus San Antonio on the 1st day of the 5A Region IV soccer tournament, and while Hanna advanced to the finals with a big win over MacArthur, Rivera was stymied by a stellar performance from the Jay keeper.

Wednesday, April 10, 2013  Rio Grande Valley boys soccer teams have won 6 of the last 8 5A Region IV Tournaments, and the odds are good that either Brownsville Hanna or Brownsville Rivera will continue that trend against San Antonio teams in San Antonio.

Saturday, February 23, 2013  Rio Grande City wrestler Lisa Gonzalez is the Valley's newest state champion, taking home the gold medal at 148 pounds from the UIL tournament in Austin. Minutes after winning the title, Lisa joined Action 4 Sports reporter Joe Bowling live during Action 4 News at 6pm. Lisa was one of 5 local wrestlers who came home with medals, the Valley's best ever showing in that sport.

Wednesday, January 23, 2013  The “Good Neighbor Day” Golf Tournament is a benefit where seniors are helping seniors in high school to help support the golf programs at their schools. John Combs joined Sunrise with more information.
