Thursday, July 19, 2012  The Valley's two entrants in the Division II state 7on7 football tournament both had to rally from adversity to make the championship bracket at College Station. The Tarpons by twice coming back from halftime deficits, and the Cardinals by winning two games by big margins after suffering an early defeat.

Thursday, July 12, 2012  While La Villa won the Division II 7on7 state qualifying tournament in La Feria, with Port Isabel also punching their ticket for College Station by coming in second, Weslaco traveled up to San Antonio and qualified at the Division I level, making it three local squads in all.
