The University of Texas offered Sharyland shortstop Tres Barrera a baseball scholarship on his campus visit this past Sunday, and the Rattlers junior made a verbal commitment to become a Longhorn, according to Barrera's coach Bart Bickerton. UT coach Augie Garrido wants Tres as a catcher at UT, and Bickerton says Barrera will play that position as well as pitch in 2012.
