Before Ben Uzoh was a Cleveland Cavalier, a Rio Grande Valley Viper, a New Jersey Net or a Tulsa Golden Hurricane, he was a Warren Warrior in San Antonio, and in Uzoh's senior year, he knocked a Mack Sanchez-led Harlingen Cardinal team out of the playoffs.

Harlingen coach Manny Gomez and his assistants studied the tendencies of the Warren offense and knew what was coming well enough to "saturate the zone", and force a Warriors quarterback who had thrown 6 interceptions in 12 previous games to throw 6 to the Cardinals defense alone.

San Antonio Warren tried to stage a comeback after falling behind to Harlingen early in their 3rd round playoff matchup, but a gritty, time-consuming effort from the Cardinals offense stymied the Warriors all game long.

The Cardinals defense intercepted San Antonio Warren QB Rex Dausin six times, taking four of them back for touchdowns as Harlingen won a third round playoff game for the 1st time in 22 years.
The Harlingen Cardinals will meet San Antonio Madison in the 5A Division I Region IV finals at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
