Friday, April 12, 2013  The Hidalgo baseball squad has been one of the best in the Valley all season, but the Pirates didn't acheive their 1st goal of the season, making the playoffs, until shutting out the Bobcats in Rio Hondo.

Friday, November 02, 2012  Port Isabel and Rio Hondo have always had a heated rivalry, and the 2012 edition of the game was no different. The Tarpons were only ahead 14-7 until a 4th quarter surge resulted in 22 quick points. A fight broke out on the field, which resulted in the game being called before the 48 minutes was complete.

Saturday, October 27, 2012  Not many expected Rio Hondo to win on the road in their first game without star quarterback Juan Puga, but the Bobcats surprised fans and foes alike with a last-second win at Hidalgo that earned RH the Rio Grande Valley Chevy dealers Team of the Week Award.

Friday, October 19, 2012  Despite losing their star quarterback to injury last week, despite not scoring in the 1st half in Hidalgo, despite being down three points with 37 seconds left to play in the game, somehow, someway, the Rio Hondo Bobcats defeated the Pirates in stunning fashion.

Tuesday, October 16, 2012  After running and passing for over 6-thousand yards and 60 touchdowns in his 4-year career at Rio Hondo, Bobcats quarterback Juan Puga has played his final high school football game. The senior tore an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee late in last Friday's home loss against La Feria.

Friday, October 12, 2012  La Feria struggled at times in their pre-district schedule, but when 32-3A play began in Rio Hondo, the Lions were more than equal to the task at hand, taking a late lead and a 1-0 record atop the standings.

Friday, September 28, 2012  The home-standing Raymondville Bearkats climbed back from a 12-0 deficit to take the lead over Rio Hondo in the 4th quarter, but then the Bobcats countered with two late touchdowns to seal a RH victory.

Saturday, September 22, 2012  When last Rio Hondo and La Grulla met on the gridiron, in 2011, the Bobcats edged the Gators by one point. This time around in a different venue, and in a non-district bout, the outcome was the same, but the margin was much wider.

Saturday, September 15, 2012  While the Rio Hondo offense was able to put up 27 against perennial playoff power Sinton, the Bobcats defense was chewed up by the Pirates to the tune of 48 points.

Friday, September 14, 2012  Texas A&M-Kingsville punt returner/wide receiver Joseph Vela will take the field Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington as the Javelinas face West Texas A&M in the final game of the Lone Star Conference football festival. It will mark the second time the Rio Hondo graduate has played at "JerryWorld".

Tuesday, September 04, 2012  Down 13-7 at the break, Rio Hondo rallied to score 20 unanswered points in the 2nd half and downed 2A Santa Rosa  in both teams' season opener.

Friday, August 31, 2012  Rio Hondo boys basketball coach Joe Guzman is back at his job. The Bobcats coach had been reassigned for the past three months after being reassigned on the final day of school in June, but returned to his position yesterday.
