For 70 minutes, the Pharr Valley View Tigers looked like the best team in their 4A state semifinal matchup with El Paso Del Valle. But the last ten minutes belonged to the Conquistadores, who made their lone goal stand up for a win that eliminated the Tigers one game short of the finals.

When Mission Veterans jumped out to a 24-0 halftime lead over Pharr Valley View, it appeared the Patriots were en route to a blowout victory. The Tigers rallied in the 2nd half, outscoring Veterans 17-7, but fell short as the Patriots evened their District 32-4A record at 1-1.
