The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (20-22-7) fell against the Evansville Icemen (30-13-4) by a 3-1 score on Wednesday night. In a tough game against the Icemen, the Bees registered a lone goal by Tomas Klempa.
The first period was a quiet one as both the Killer Bees and the IceMen remained scoreless. The Bees had the best chance of the period as Dan Gendur came in on a shorthanded breakaway but it was turned away by Evansville goalie Bryan Gillis.
The IceMen got on the board first at 9:00 into the second period as Malcolm Gwilliam was able to put one past Wylie Rogers while on the power play. Evansville remained in the lead for the rest of the second period.
The third period saw another IceMen power play goal made by Sean O’Connor at 11:44 into the period.
The Bees were able to come back with one at 14:44 into the third period as Tomas Klempa took a pass in the slot and beat Evansville goaltender, Bryan Gillis, high glove side. Brandon Campos and Dan Gendur earned the assists.
After Wylie Rogers was pulled late in the third period, the IceMen secured the win with an empty net goal.
