After being drafted by the Houston Astros in the 28th round, UTPA 3rd baseman and former Sharyland Rattler Angel Ibanez signed with Houston. But Ibanez said a move to a new conference by Pan-Am might have made his decision tougher.

Pena was taken by the Nationals with the 1st pick in the 5th round, 142nd pick overall.
