On Monday, La Villa defensive coordinator Danny Perez was promoted to head football coach of the Cardinals, but six and a half years ago, Perez was leading a double life as a coach, and as a player for the Rio Grande Valley Dorados of the af2.

Porter soccer star Mario Perez has signed a Letter of Intent to play soccer with the UT-Brownsville Scorpion Men's Soccer Team for the 2009-10 academic year. Perez started for Porter all four years and is a two-time All-State selection. He was a member of the 2006 Cowboy team that won the Class 5A state championship.
