UTEP got beaten by BYU, Texas A&M lost to LSU, but a couple of Valley alums playing division I football got  wins in their final games of the season.

 Former Los Fresnos Falcon and current Louisville Cardinals sophomore Mario Benavides started at center in the 3rd annual St. Petersburg Bowl, helping his team to a 31-28 win over Southern Miss.

Meanwhile, former McAllen Rowe Warrior and current Mississippi State Bulldogs senior Emmanuel Gatling started at linebacker in the Gator Bowl, where MSU trounced Michigan, 52-14.
