Dustin Garza Qualifies For Nationwide Tour

WINTER GARDEN, FL -- Sharyland alumnus Dustin Garza won golf tournaments in high school, won golf tournaments while in college at Wichita State, now he'll get a chance to compete as a pro week in and week out on the Nationwide Tour. Garza finished in the top 75 at the PGA Qualifying School Final Round in Florida this past Monday, and the former Rattler tells the Wichita Eagle that being fully exempt is a "huge step".

"It's very hard to make the third stage," he said. "You would love to get your (PGA)Tour card. But the next big thing is to get fully exempt. You play for a lot of money (on the Nationwide Tour). Your schedule is set."

The Nationwide Tour starts in Hawaii next month.

Hawaii in January is a far cry from Humble, TX in November, where Dustin had to finish in the top 9 to even make it to the finals. Don't be surprised to see Garza jumping up to the PGA before a year is up.
