Rockets To Recall 1st Rd Pick Sunday

HIDALGO, TX -- The Rio Grande Valley Vipers will look to extend their 3-game win streak tonight and tomorrow in the Biggest Little City in the World, facing the Bighorns for a back-to-back in Reno. Hopefully the Vipers make hay while the sun shines, because they are about to lose their top post player, and their best overall player these past three victories, Houston Rockets 1st round draft pick Patrick Patterson.

According to Jason Friedman of rockets.com, Patterson's stint in the Valley will end at nine games:

According to Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey, Patterson will play two more games with the Vipers before being recalled by the Rockets this Sunday. It remains to be seen how many minutes he’ll earn upon arrival since Houston still has the likes of Luis Scola, Jordan Hill and Chuck Hayes manning the frontcourt positions. But at least this much is certain: the Rockets will be getting an improved Patrick Patterson.

The Kentucky product is averaging 17.3 points and 9.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game with the Vipers, and when he leaves, there'll be no replacement, as NBA assignments don't count against a 10-man NBADL roster.

Not that finding a force as dominant as PP in the paint is easy to find anyway. Hope everyone had a chance to see Big Pat before he left, because he might not ever be back.
