LA VILLA, TX -- La Villa QB AJ Garza may have set the Valley single-game passing record this past week, but I'm guessing that a little nationwide pub might bring some extra thrills. According to maxpreps.com, Garza's 528 yards in Friday's win at Brownsville St. Joseph was 2nd most in the United States last week, behind only Thor Long (great name) of Sherman's 562 against Highland Park.

Garza, to me, gets a leg up over Long when it comes to intangibles, as Sherman actually lost to the Scots, 43-42, while AJ's two 4th quarter TD throws gave the Cardinals back the lead in a 38-27 over the Bloodhounds.

Of course, Garza and the Cards are no stranger to national attention, having won a National 7-On-7 tournament in Florida this summer.
