Man killed in shootout with Border Patrol agents near Hebbronville

A man is dead after allegedly getting a shootout with Border Patrols agents just one hour north of the Rio Grande Valley.

Border Patrol officials confirmed it all happened near Hebbronville late Wednesday night.

Officials reported that agents pulled over a vehicle and ran a background check on the license plates.

The license plates came back with something criminal.

The driver allegedly had a gun and shot at Border Patrol agents.

One agent was shot in the leg but the others returned fire killing the driver.

Border Patrol officials said the agent was treated and released for his injury.
