Texting and driving is being blamed in an accident that claimed the lives of a woman, her 11-month-old baby and an elderly man in another vehicle.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the fatal accident.
It all happened off Moorefield Road and Mile 7 North near Alton on Friday morning.
State troopers reported that 22-year-old Dulce Barajas was texting and driving while heading north on Moorefield Road.
Investigators said her Volkswagen Jetta veered into oncoming traffic hitting a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 62-year-old Jesus Saenz.
The impact sent an improperly secured babyseat with 11-month-old Pablo Barajas in the front seat of his mother's car.
Dulce Barajas died at the scene but both her baby and Saenz died at a local hospital.
DPS regional spokesman Johnny Hernandez said the accident serves a reminder not to use cell phone while driving.
"Don't text and drive this holiday period," Hernandez said. "Just drive."
