A suspicious object was found near a Pharr elementary campus Friday morning.

The device, that had wires sticking out, was found by a custodian on the north side of a field connected to the Dan Ramirez Elementary School.

Pharr Police and the McAllen Police Bomb Unit were called to recover the device.

The area has been cleared  is unclear what the object is.

The school is not on lockdown.

Adriana Vasquez with the PSJA Independent School District, said the students have been told to stay inside the building.

She said all the students are safe and classes are not being interrupted.
